WODEHOUSE Vice Admiral Commodore 2nd Class Norman Atherton CB Royal Navy Reserve HMS Eaglet (land base Liverpool). KIA 4/7/1941 Age 54. Son of Revd. Canon Frederick Armine & Alice Elizabeth Juliana Wodehouse.   Husband of Theodosia Frances Wodehouse.  Order of Striped Tiger of China,  Royal Humane Society Silver Medal. He won 14 caps playing rugby for England and captained the first Grand Slam winners in 1913. He served in WW1 and was on HMS Revenge at the Battle of Jutland and was recalled to active service in 1939. He was killed whilst commanding a convoy to South Africa   when the SS Robert L Holt was sunk by U-69. His older brother, Arthur Powys Wodehouse, was killed in WW1. Panel 1 Col 1 LIVERPOOL NAVAL MEMORIAL.
