Photos of Unknown British War Graves collected from numerous cemeteries across the world

Throughout the war cemeteries across the globe, lie 211,996 soldiers in 75 Countries whose identities are ''Known unto God'. The majority of these being in France (116,459), Belgium (48,578) and Turkey (13,461)

During our visits we have come across hundreds of different variations of unknown headstones, from the most common ''A soldier of the Great War // known unto God'', through to those that have an identified Regiment, Rank and occasionally date of death.

As a result we have decided to show some examples, some of the most common and some of the more unusual and rare ones. Please be patient as this page will be updated constantly with new photos.

If you would like a photo of a particular unknown headstone on the site or if there is a particular one that you cannot see please contact  anthony.bagshaw1@sky.com
